Symptoms of Multiple Sclerosis

There are currently over 2.3 million people in the world who have a diagnosis of multiple sclerosis. In the United States alone, that number is about one million.

Multiple sclerosis is a chronic conditions that effects the central nervous system and immune system. It is a chronic condition with no known cure, and symptoms are often unpredictable. People with MS usually received their diagnosis between the ages of 20 and 50.

Walter Gefrom is a Project Manager and Civil Engineer who proudly supports initiatives that raise awareness of Multiple sclerosis. As a supporter of the National Multiple sclerosis Society, he believes this form of advocacy could lead to major changes for people battling this condition.

Everyone experiences MS slightly differently because there are a lot of different symptoms and levels of severity. Some symptoms can include:

Weakness

Numbness

Tingling

Fatigue

Difficulties with walking

Dizziness

Vertigo

Involuntary muscle spasms

Bladder dysfunction

Balance and co-ordination difficulties

Cognitive changes and difficulties

Blurred vision

‘MS Hug’ – a squeezing sensation around the chest or torso that can be uncomfortable or even painful.
